2008 WVC Lectureship: A Week In Review

On October 5-9, the Central Church in Martinsburg had the distinct honor of hosting the West Virginia Christian Lectureship. The theme of study was Complete in Him: A Study of the Book of Colossians. Brother Clarence DeLoach served as our keynote speaker, and, as a companion study, Bro. DeLoach did an excellent study of the book of Ephesians. There were also special classes each day. Jody Apple did daily classes on the Scheme of Redemption. Cheryl Cozort did daily classes on Women Professing Godliness for the ladies. David Kenney did a study of Great Preachers of the Past. Sam Bartrug did a study of Christian Evidences. We also had classes on Reaffirming Baptism, Reaffirming Worship in Spirit and in Truth, and Reaffirming Restoration each evening before the final session.

Each speaker for the entire lectureship was well prepared to deliver excellent material. We are grateful for the time and effort they put into this work. We fully understand that this was done in addition to already heavy workloads they carry. A book was produced and given out at the lectures; the book can be accessed on the www.westvirginiachristian.org website. In addition to that, Mike Mann and Charlie Rose recorded each lecture. They made them available in cassette, CD, or DVD format. The lectures were well attended. Brethren from several states came to be a part of the lectureship. Many of them stayed for the entire week. Others attended as many lectures as they could. For this we are humbly grateful and encouraged. The fellowship of kindred minds was truly enjoyable.

The 2009 lectureship is scheduled to be held at Pennsboro (September 13-16). They had most of their schedule ready to announce at this year’s event.
